Unable+to+start+debugging+The+Silverlight+Developer+Runtime+is+not+installed+Please+install+a+matching+version

Unable to start debugging. The Silverlight Developer Runtime is not installed. Please install a matching version.

I uninstalled the main Silverlight installation from my computer as well as Silverlight 5. After reinstalling them, my project still worked fine. But then today when I try to run it, I get this error message. I of course Google it and people are saying to just reinstall the SDK. Well I have. I have the main installation and the SDK for Silverlight 3, 4, and 5. I even had 1 and 2, but removed those. Not installations seem to resolve this issue.

Silverlight Installations

Next, I reinstalled VS 2010 and all of its dependencies, restarted my notebook and tried my project again. But, it failed.

Anyone have any ideas on what else I can do to fix this?

if you have installed silverlight 5 SDK, then you need to install silverlight tools and runtime too, but to install silverlight runtime you need to have visual studio 2010 sp1 installed on the system.

I attempted to install that. But it said a newer version of it was already installed. So I removed Silverlight 5 SDK and it didn't work. Removed 4 SDK too, but it still did not install. Which I'm guessing means they are different installations. Either way,
I tried downloading the Silverlight 4 developer tools, but it failed. I looked up the error and it said that VS SP1 has it included. So I installed the SL 5 Dev tools, but it still didn't work.

I also reinstalled SP1. But it didn't work.

Any other ideas?

Thanks for the help, guys. It turns out that you two were correct, but because of a registry key, I couldn't install the dev tools. Since I had Silverlight 5 dev tools installed, even after removing it, the reg key that the installer looks for to find out
which version is installed, stayed. Once I removed it, I was able to install the tools.

Thanks, guys.
